Hillary on Abortion

Monday, July 31st, 2006

On January 25th, 2005, Senator Clinton gave a speech on reproductive rights that provides some insight into her position on abortion.  Since Ms. Clinton would not grant me an interview (OK, I’m assuming she wouldn’t grant me an interview), I jotted down a few things I was thinkinbout while reading the transcript from her speech.  In the interest of blog-space, you can read most of the speech and my thoughts here:  Senator Clinton on Reproductive Rights.

Our next what?

Our next president?

Clinton

I don’t even know what to say.  So.. is this a positive for her potential campaign or a negative?  Now we know her husband’s preference in undershorts and we have a bust of her in a bra.  Way too much information!

So, what does this bust tell of a potential Clinton Presidency?  Would it be uplifting?  Would her administration tend to make mountains out of molehills or deepen the cleavage between the red and blue states?  It surely gives new meaning to the phrase “sucking off the government teet”!

There is no truth to the rumor that the campaign slogan would be “Return of the Shrew”. But wait a second… hmmm… according to Yahoo Education, A shrew is:

A woman with a violent, scolding, or nagging temperament; a scold.

Define the Crisis

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

How many of you believe the price of fuel is too high, probably going higher, will ultimately wreck our economy and we need prices lowered, stabilized and affordable? … Raise your hands.

How many of you believe oil is a limited resource, that we need to encourage conservation, we need to identify alternatives to our dependency on mid-east oil and until we find a way to break the shackles of oil dependency, our future will continue to be threatened by nut cases who line their pockets and grow their weapons stockpiles with buckets of money shipped overseas in empty crude oil containers courtesy of you and me?  Raise your hands.

Thank You Jimmy Carter

Monday, July 17th, 2006

As the situation in the Mid-East continues to escalate, understanding that our focus should be to the future and how to resolve this crises, spending a moment or two to look back at how we really got here may help us to avoid making the some of the same mistakes.

According to the Jimmy Carter Library,

)) Between 1963 and 1979, the Shah (of Iran) spent billions of oil dollars on military weapons. The real price of military strength was the loss of popular support. Unable to sustain economic progress and unwilling to expand democratic freedoms, the Shah’s regime collapsed in revolution. On January 16, 1979, the Shah fled Iran, never to return. ((

A drop in an ocean of ideas

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

A drop in a cup can create a splash… a drop in a pond… ripples.  A drop in an ocean likely no more than an impression swiftly swept away by waves of opinions formed through the collective wind of thousands of blogs all shouting to be heard over the roar of the ocean of ideas.

Will this drop be any different than the millions of others it joins? I have no idea… wait.. I mean, I have an idea, just no idea if any ideas shared here will amount to anything above an impression.  Who knows, maybe we’ll see a ripple or two, maybe not, but at least it may keep me out of therapy :-)
