Return of the Grinch

I’m beginning to feel like Senator Reid is the Grinch and we are all being treated like we are as naive as Cindy Lou Who.  You remember….

Cindy Lou: Santie Claus, why? Why are you taking our Christmas tree, why?

Grinch: Why my sweet little tot, .

Narrator: - -the fake Santie Claus lied -…

Grinch: ..there’s a light on this tree that won’t light on one side. So I’m taking it home to my work shop, my dear. I’ll fix it up there, then I’ll bring it back here

Narrator: And his fib fooled the child. So he patted her head, he gave her a drink and he sent her to bed. And when Cindy Lou Who was in bed with her cup, he crupt to the chimney and stuffed the tree up. Then he went up the chimney himself, the old liar, and the last thing he took was the log for their fire.

Regarding his illegal use of campaign funds to pay Christmas bonuses to employees of the Ritz-Carlton condos he lives in:

Cindy Lou US: Senator why? Why are you using campaign funds for personal use, why?

Grinch.. err.. Reid: Why my sweet little tot,  “These donations were made to thank the men and women who work in the building for the extra work they do as a result of my political activities, and for helping the security officers assigned to me because of my Senate position,”   … this Grinch is not much of a rhymer.

Narrator: The hypocrit lied, and he laughed a sly laugh that he tried hard to hide.  Then he patted our head, sent the AP to bed and brushed another “conservative hit job” aside.

Reid said Monday he believed the expenses were permissible but he nonetheless was reimbursing the campaign.

So.. everyone contributes to a fund for Christmas gifts and bonuses even if they are not senators?  Out of their own pockets?  But the good senator believes he was justified using contributors’ money to kick in his share? Interesting… and to think, he actually used their money for CHRISTMAS gifts and bonuses.  What happened to separation of church and state?

Larry Noble (former FEC chief enforcement lawyer):  ”What makes this harder for the senator is that this is his personal residence and this looks like an event that everybody else at the residence is taking out of their personal money as they’re living there,”

OK.. so “The Grinch” didn’t have a FEC lawyer… but we do.  This is no less a violation of Federal Law than what Reid accuses Republicans in Congress of doing.  Just add this on to the land dealings he failed to disclose due to “clerical errors” and the selling of a piece of property that he owned but didn’t own and it all adds up to more than enough to call for Reid to step down as Senate Majority Leader until the trial.. err.. this matter is investigated properly.

I think the Captain says it best:

Let’s get this straight. Reid’s failure to follow the Senate rules on disclosure in 2001, when he sat on the Ethics Committee, somehow got set up by the Republicans. Reid’s connection to an attorney involved in a bribery case that directly related to zoning decisions in Clark County, where they both owned property, was a Rovian plot set in motion in 1998. And now Reid’s new disclosures of property in an area where he has taken an intense legislative interest somehow relates to Republicans, when no one even mentioned the parcels in question — because Reid failed to disclose them during his entire time as Senate Minority Leader, while he has castigated Republicans for alleged ethical lapses.

Stumble it!
