Stem cells, cloning, and rational debate… or not

Language Alert

Fascinating post at Michelle Malkin regarding the controversy surrounding the controversy around embryonic stem cell research and human cloning.  Now that the MSM has criticized Rush Limbaugh for suggesting that Michael J. Fox was either off meds or acting (something he has apologized for saying), will we see the balance come through in their response to the following written by Don Murphy, the producer of Natural Born Killers, Apt Pupil, Double Dragon, and The Transformers movie:

Not only do these retards run an ad that is morally and logically unsound, and MOCK Michael J Fox for having a disease, they have set it so that comments must be approved by them. Anything they don’t like, doesn’t get approved. Pure lameness. Are they wimps or pussies?

This is a good opportunity to state that Patricia Heaton is a worthless whore. When Bryan Singer and I were doing APT PUPIL, we made the mistake of offering her the role of the mother. It was a small role, and her career was nothing at the time. She didn’t want to do it. People pass all the time, so fine. She was offended by the role. Okay, fine, fuck you be offended bitch. But no- the worthless whore wrote a letter to Sherry Lansing the head of the studio complaining that the film was evil and would destroy children’s minds. She was ignored and mocked, of course, but can you believe this worthless human shit would have liked to STOP a movie because it offended her lame pussy sensibilities?

I’d vote yes for experimenting on Patricia Heaton cells.

As for Cavaziel, have you seen him in anything lately? Thought so.

Perhaps Murphy was off his meds when he wrote this?

Fortunately for me, I won’t need to worry too much about boycotting Mr. Murphy’s movies… doesn’t look like any of them are worth much of a look.. even on DVD.  Interesting that the value of a person’s opinion is dependent upon Hollywood’s perception of their value as an actor and whether their position agrees with liberal standards pervasive in this community.

So what did Patricia Heaton say to deserve such a vicious attack?  Essentially that harvesting eggs from women for the purpose of growing and cloning embryos is dangerous, painful and may encourage poor woman to sell their eggs while putting themselves at risk.  How dare she!  Here’s the video in case you haven’t seen it yet:

As discussed on several blogs these days, lost in the MSM reporting of this issue is the fact that approving “Amendment 2″ makes cloning legal in Missouri.  Also, the Michael J. Fox ad is running in other states and falsely indicates that embryonic stem cell research (which is not mentioned by name.. wonder why…) is the most promising form of stem cell research.  This may ultimately prove to be true, but so far, results have been contrary to this statement.

Also lost in this message, which has little to do with stem cell research and a lot to do with politics, is the truth about President Bush.  If this was really about stem cell research, why not share ALL of the facts instead of personal misleading opinions based upon a political agenda.  If the goal is a cure, tell the truth; because even a lie of omission will destroy the credibility of the messenger.

So, here’s some facts you haven’t seen or heard in the MSM or in these political ads (pulled from a list of lies about Bush I posted on the old thinkinboutstuff website two years ago):

Lie #6:  Stem cell research is being blocked by Bush; People will get up out of their wheelchairs if Kerry is elected.  Not only is this an irresponsible and cruel lie, it does not accurately describe the reality of research that exists today.  Go read Charles Krauthammer’s article for a very personal view of the impact of such false hope.

  •     First, the only president to block stem cell research was Clinton

  •     Second, Bush made a decision to move cautiously, balancing science and morality, by funding research on existing stem cell lines; he was the first president to ever provide federal funding for this research

  •     Third, there is no restriction on private research, privately funded

  •     Fourth, there is no restriction on research funded by states

  •     Fifth, to date there has not been much promise in fetal stem cell research.  The advances have come from adult stem cell research

Let’s stick to the facts folks.  Anything else smells of exploitation for political gain.

One Response to “Stem cells, cloning, and rational debate… or not”

  1. Hollywood hatemongers

Don Murphy is a movie producer who worked on Natural Born Killers, Apt Pupil, Double Dragon (the first two, from what I know, are some of the sickest trash you can find, the third is obscure), and a new movie based on the Transformers (Hasbro’s robot…
