Don’t know how I missed this. You probably knew this (so why didn’t you tell me?).
Part of Sandy Berger’s plea agreement requires him to submit to a lie detector test if the government requests one.
In The Shambergler in “The 9-Eleven Caper” I stated the following:
If it was really critical that the 9/11 Commission have access to all data that might help to identify weaknesses in our security so that we can make this country safer, Sandy Berger needs to tell us what he is hiding, what were in those documents he destroyed, why was this so important that he was willing to risk arrest and jail?
Well… what are we waiting for? Sit him down, swear him in, strap on the lie detector and let’s put this whole thing to rest. If he did not steal and destroy any other documents, let’s find out and drop the whole thing.
But if he did steal more documents and destroy them, documents that were critical to the 911 Commission’s investigation, if he lied about not stealing any other documents, then all bets are off. That would not only be perjury, it would also invalidate the plea and would scream for a public trial where he could be prosecuted for his crimes and receive a real sentence.
Folks… we need to demand that the terms of his plea agreement are followed to the letter, including the lie detector test. Anything less is unacceptable.
