In summary…

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

It’s late, but thinkin’ too much before chasing z’s, so a quick thought and then I’m out.

In summary Obama:

  • Has publicly stated that Wright and Pfleger have been close spiritual advisers and, until he was forced to distance himself from these hate mongering racists, consulted with them frequently
  • Associates with domestic terrorists, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who even held a fundraiser for Obama; this is not a new, fleeting relationship… Michelle Obama actually knew and worked with Dohrn in the 80’s
  • Is married to someone who sadly has never been proud of our country in her adult life.. until now of course
  • Frequently confuses fact and fiction; often appears more interested in sounding like he knows what he is talking about and less interested in actually knowing the facts
  • Rarely takes a position except in hindsight and quite frequently has voted “present” in his brief career in the Illinois and US senate
  • Appears somewhat lost when not speaking from a teleprompter, which may indicate limited mental agility
  • Is an admitted former drug user (marijuana and cocaine) who joked about President Clinton’s famous “I didn’t inhale” statement that he, Obama, thought the point was to inhale… which is a great message for a presidential wannabe to be sending to the children of America

And yet… he is a very serious candidate for president.  Can anyone please tell me what he has accomplished?  What experiences he has had to prepare him to lead this country of ours?  Unfortunately, my assessment of more than a year ago that he would be a serious contended in what has become a popularity contest has come true.

I said it in 2004 and in 2000 (back when thinkinboutstuff was a website… before the blog explosion), someone needs to ask every candidate for president one simple question: What have you accomplished in the last 10 years to earn a promotion to the highest office in the land?

Seems fair to expect that actions and accomplishments be weighed alongside words.  Any con-man can make you believe he will do wonderful things for you if you just hand over your wallet (in this case all those tax dollars you and I “give” to the government), but we would be wise to insist upon tangible evidence of past performance to back up those words.

Pfleger needs to be reprimanded and reassigned

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Reverend Michael Louis Pfleger is an embarrassment to the Catholic Church, he should be publicly reprimanded for his most recent racist outburst and transferred immediately to another parish.  He has been the pastor of Saint Sabina Catholic Church since 1981, a long time in one place for a priest, and it is clearly time for him to be moved to an assignment where he can try to find his faith because it is clear he has lost his way.

His behavior is not Christ-like in any way, denigrating Hillary Clinton, fanning the flames of racism, feeding off the negative energy of a crowd all too willing to set aside Jesus’ teachings in Jesus’ house and laugh and cheer as this supposed leader tossed the first stone and mocked Hillary Clinton from the altar.

HOW DARE YOU!!!!   You, Michael Pfleger, are a disgrace, your behavior should be condemned by our Church leadership and you need to be moved to an assignment where you can do no further harm.

I don’t know what else to say… I am ashamed that you hold the title of “Father” and are so publicly representing my Church in such a non-Christian, evil way.

One has to wonder… how many of Obama’s friends are racists and are we to believe that he really had no clue?  Birds of a feather….

Movie Night - Meat Loaf in Concert

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Been quite some time since our last Movie Night..

Tonight we bring you back to the summer of ‘78. Meat Loaf had just exploded onto the music scene with “Bat Out of Hell” and the only thing spoiling the atmosphere at the open air concert in Holmdel New Jersey was a very minor technicality… not only had I been dumped the week before the show, my best friend dumped his long-time girl to take my ex to the concert and failed to mention that minor detail before we went to the show.

BTW.. Bob.. if by chance you are reading this, I forgave you years ago and I’m sorry I threatened to… well, never mind about that, I’m just sorry… but that was pretty low. Funny thing is, I can’t even remember her name although I have regretted breaking up before she sold me her bass.  On the up side.. I met my future bride of 25 years a few months later.. so all’s well…

But enough about me… now, only 30 short years later, we present Meat Loaf!!!!!!

BTW.. was curious about Ellen Foley who sang that great duet with Meat Loaf on Paradise.. if you’re interested too, check out the wiki-link on her name.

Great Scott! On a roll and full of sheet(s)…

No surprise that an administration would have a disgruntled former employee.

No surprise that any government office or agency, any employer anywhere, would have disgruntled employees.

In my experience, hardly anyone is 100% satisfied with their job, boss or employer.  So, no surprise that Scott McClellan, who never really appeared comfortable in his role as White House Press Secretary and who was likely forced to resign, is filling the role of disgruntled former employee so well if he believes he was mistreated, deceived, unappreciated.

Perhaps the bitter mephitis emanating from the festering wounds of his injured pride have driven him to lash out in self-defense, attacking those perceived to have inflicted these mortal wounds upon him in a desperate attempt at redemption, a desperate attempt to heal his wounds by exposing the perpetrators of these egregious attacks to the harsh light of deceit laid bare and truth uncovered.

WAPO - The former press secretary - the second of four so far in Bush’s presidency - explained his dramatic shift from loyal defender to fierce critic as a difficult act of personal contrition, a way, he wrote, to learn from his mistakes, be true to his Christian faith and become a better person.

Ah yes, there it is, the real reason.  By writing this book, McClellan is being true to his Christian faith and has become a better person.  I suppose all that money he’ll be getting don’t hurt much either.  Perhaps, being the true Christian that he is, and this being blood money, he will consider donating all the proceeds to charity… after all, it’s not about the money, it’s not about revenge… it’s all about redemption.

Seems like he hasn’t actually learned from his mistakes as he had hoped… seems more like he is making brand new ones.  Pass the TP…

When counting votes doesn’t count…

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Now that Barack Obama has essentially won the Dem nomination, looks like there may be a compromise in the works that will allow the Florida and Michigan votes to “count”.

By count, the Dems mean that the primary can not possibly be influenced one way or the other by seating the Florida and Michigan delegates at this time, so let’s include them (or at least some of them) now that all is said and done so that it won’t appear as if we did not include them in the selection of a Dem candidate even though we didn’t actually include them.

Seems somewhat patronizing, no?  Awww… poor Florida… poor Michigan… no seats at the convention.  As soon as we know who all the other states want, we’ll let you join the party, as long as you promise to not do anything to change the results.

As Obama’s campaign manager put it:

From AP- “We don’t think it’s fair to seat them fully because we both lived by these rules and pledged to abide by them,” Plouffe said. “We’re willing to give some delegates here, which I don’t think should be sneezed at.”

Yeah… including Florida and Michigan after they so blatantly broke the rules would be totally unfair.  Better to only include 48 states, plus a few other US possessions who’s vote doesn’t even count in the general election.  It’s not like these are the only 2 states excluded after all, what about the other 7 states that Obama visited.

They should have resolved this weeks ago when the votes really counted.  Now there is no way anyone with half a brain (that clearly excludes the DNC chair) will believe that Florida and Michigan really has any say in who the Dem nominee will be come November…

By the way… the Dems never wanted ALL the Florida votes counted in 2000 either, otherwise they would have called for a statewide recount instead of selective recounting in areas that would presumably be advantageous to Al Gore.  If this doesn’t prove to you that all the “every vote must count” propaganda was just a bunch of malarkey 8 years ago, perhaps you deserve the 2nd class status the Dems have relegated you to this year.

Truth is, Florida and Michigan deserve to be counted… but it may be too little, too late to matter.

Barack Obama - Ghost Whisperer?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Was Barack Obama really seeing fallen war hero’s as he spoke in New Mexico on Memorial day…

On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors it’s unbroken line of fallen heroes, and I see many of them in the audience here today, our sense of patriotism is particularly strong, because while we gather here under open skies we know that far beyond the Oregon mountains in the streets of Baghdad, and the outskirts of Kabul, America’s sons and daughters are sacrificing on our behalf, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Really?  Did he really see fallen heroes in the audience?  Or was he, as some have suggested, confusing Memorial Day with Veteran’s Day… although that still wouldn’t explain why he could see fallen heroes.  Also wondering why he was referring to the mountains of Oregon when speaking in New Mexico; not necessarily a gaffe, but he did know he was in New Mexico, didn’t he?

I’ve seen many posts on other blogs about the various verbal flubs that Obama has made during this campaign, and of course most have pointed out that Bush, Quayle and even McCain would be the butt of late night jokes and trashing by the MSM for committing even a fraction of the verbal sins Obama has in just that past few months… so much for him being a great orator.  I think it is becoming obvious that it is not the content of his speeches, the depth of his ideas, or even the coherence of his spoken thoughts that makes some believe he is a great orator; it is merely his delivery, the tone of his voice, the way he makes every phrase sound like it has some deep meaning supported by an irrefutable truth that he is sharing with his audience for the first time, opening ears and giving sight to the politically blind.

But should we be concerned that this goes beyond mere verbal gaffes?  Surely we don’t believe that Obama thinks there are 57+ states, that 10,000 people died in a Kansas tornado, that he sees the ghosts of heroes at Memorial Day speeches or has no clue what state he is in on any given day (understandable, I suppose, since there are at least 7 states he needs to remember that the rest of us don’t even need to think about).

There must be some explanation for this apparently unending series of mistakes, and the question must be asked:

Has Obama’s history of drug use impaired his memory?

From MSNBC:

“Junkie. Pothead. That’s where I’d been headed: the final fatal role of the young would-be black man,” Obama wrote. Mostly he smoked marijuana and drank alcohol, he wrote, but occasionally he would snort cocaine when he could afford it.

What were the long-term effects of drug abuse at a young age?  How has Obama’s use of marijuana and cocaine impaired his memory and reasoning? These questions are in no way out of bounds when we are deciding who will lead this nation during a time of war, especially in light of Obama’s recent pattern of verbal blunders.

Others Blogging: More on the gaffes from our friends at Wake Up America and from Michelle MalkinDemocracy Rules via Gina Cobb wonders, as I have, if drugs are playing a role in the gaffes.

Update: The chorus of concern over the potential lingering effects of Obama’s drug use is growing… more from Apocryphal EVIDENCE

We Remember…

Monday, May 26th, 2008

For their sacrifice.. for a debt we can never truly repay… we remember and give thanks that brave men and women willingly place themselves in harm’s way for love of country so that we may all live in freedom’s embrace.
