Dodd & Dems Just Can’t Resist a Tax Opportunity

While the world awaits a solution to the current economic crises, and as Dodd, Reid, Frank & Co spend time in front of the cameras desperately trying to blame McCain for any failure before any failure occurs and blame everyone else for the mess in the first place (apparently liberals don’t see their reflection in mirrors), Senator Dodd has found the time to slip a new tax into the bailout.

While Dem leaders want to blame McCain for any delays, seems more likely their political posturing and attempts to sneak earmarks into one of the most important pieces of legislation in recent history is more likely causing all the agita in Washington.

What has Dodd done?  He has included langauge in this $700 billion bailout, with our money, that will direct 20% of profits to Barack Obama’s friends at ACORN.

As Obama would say, you can’t make this stuff up.

While the MSM wants to ask everyone who will stand in front of a microphone what McCain’s role in the negotiations has been, I have yet to hear anyone ask Obama what he thinks about funneling billions of taxpayer dollars to ACORN instead of back to the pockets of taxpayers in repayment for the bailout.

This should be major headlines folks!  Here’s what’s happening:

  • Bailout gets approved
  • Our money is handed over to the government who passes it out in the bailout
  • Any profits come back to the government
  • 20% is skimmed off the top (handling fee?) and handed to ACORN

Is there anyone here who would approve of a $140 billion tax to fund ACORN and other community organizer groups?  I’m betting the answer is “hell no!”.

Wonder if this ACORN deal was part of Obama’s outline Reid keeps talking about.

Thank goodness McCain is causing the Dems a few headaches… otherwise this may have slipped by and we’d all be paying for it.

More from Michelle Malkin and bunches of other folks.

It is no wonder that Obama did not want ot be around for all the talks about the bailout. How much would Obama walk away with, all considering that he was ACORN’s lawyer!?!

If Acorn gets one red cent of my money, I swear to God I will start a Jihad against this Congress.

  3. PHB says:

Hopefully Dodd and company will be investigated by the FBI for Fannie Mae “donations” and Dodd’s sweetheart mortgadg interest deal.
Now federal funds going to Acorn is really criminal !

Anyone reading this, please write ASAP to your senators and congressman to state your feelings on these Acorn scams added to this bailout.

I realize that I have been passive for far too long.

for those who have never done this, google:

This is why I could never bring myself to join the Democratic party- they always pull this crap. Anytime there’s an urgent piece of legislation they try to sneak in pet projects, and it ends up blowing up in their faces. While there may or may not be valid reasons to invest in low-income housing, this bill is clearly not the place to do it. Not to mention that even including the word ACORN in the bill is playing with political dynamite, considering their nominee’s connections to the group (to be fair, not all of that 20% goes to ACORN- the 20% is split amongst several groups, with ACORN being one of them; however, the point remains the same). It’s a stupid, selfish, and petty move. I swear someone needs to kick Harry Reid in the nuts.

And Joe, seriously, a Jihad? Considering our deep involvement in the Middle East, it seems to be that by now everyone should realize that ‘jihad’ does not mean ‘holy war,’ or any other type of war, as the people who led us to war wanted us to believe. It generally translates as ’struggle,’ or ’struggle in the way of God.’ Quitting smoking or losing weight could be called a jihad.

I just wrote one of my senators, whose last name happens to be Dodd (don’t hold it against me). I’ll also be calling his office. This is ridiculous. I’m voting for Obama (or at least I was; we’ll see what happens with this mess) and even I’m ripping pissed about this. Any profits from this should either come back to taxpayers (since we’re the ones paying for this), or better yet, use the opportunity to pay down our national debt. Not that I actually expect a profit from this debacle anyway.

  7. Kevin… first thanks for the clarification. I was trying to find if it was all ACORN or spread around to different groups. Seemed starnge it would all be ACORN, but one group or many, still annoying.

Second.. hopefully we’ll see some return on this “investment”… even if we don’t get all of it back. Of course it raises the question of where any “profit” actually goes … rebate to us taxpayer types?
