This is not a big deal, and with the seriousness of everything going on today, I almost let it go. But I’m just curious if Obama is really learning about US history from Joe Biden.
You will recall, I’m sure, that Joe Biden goofed (or appeared to goof, maybe he really believes it) when he said that FDR went on TV to reassure Americans when the stock market crashed at the beginning of the Great Depression… he wasn’t president and there was no TV.
Today I heard Barack Obama telling a crowd that we need to learn the lesson of FDR who, “at the beginning of th Great Depression, in his first fireside chat said….”
Again… the Great Depression began October 1929 on “Black Tuesday”. FDR’s first “fireside chat” as president was March 12, 1933, almost four years later.
Minor? I suppose… then again, if you are going to use the example FDR set at the start of the Great Depression to make a point, isn’t your point somewhat diluted if it never happened?
Keep it real “O”.
