Apologizing to Nancy Reagan was the right thing to do, but…
… will our next president learn from this latest faux pas. Seems like, when he leaves his script, he has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth.
Not only was it poor form to make fun of a former First Lady about rumors she spoke with the dead during her husband’s presidency, he made fun of the wrong First Lady.
While it has been said that Nancy Reagan consulted with astrologers, it was Hillary Clinton who reportedly had discussions with Eleanor Roosevelt, who was deceased at the time.
So.. kudos for showing enough class to call and apologize, but concern that he too frequently goes for the laugh line instead of acting statesmanlike… we don’t need a comedian in the White House.
Stumble it!

Outside of the fact that he was wrong to have tried to make a joke at the expense of one of the most revered former first ladies of the country, what are you upset about? For months now there have been few jokes made about Obama. Now we know that he will be providing fodder for the comedians for four years. Unfortunately we have also learned that we may well be condemned to repeat the history he never learned, leave alone learned from.

Unfortunately, I actually heard some comedians (Chris Rock was one of them, I forget who the other guy was) explain that Obama is hard to make fun of because he is too cool….
To me this proves one of two things, or both:
1) Comedians like Chris Rock can only make fun of things that are easy to make fun of, showing that their talent is somewhat limited. Good comedians who specialize in political humor can find something funny about any politician.
2) It’s not that they can’t fiind something funny, it’s that they can’t being themselves to find something funny. It would be like making a joke about their messiah.
Anyone can make fun of someone they dislike (or hate).
As for Obama, so far he still seems like a typical Chicago strret pol who is good at reading from a script. Even with the wave of anti-Republican sentiment this election, Obama was still beatable until the economic mess handed him the election.
Unfortunately I think it’s gonna be a long for years.
