A quote I just read from Nancy Pelosi, the ultra-far-left liberal Democrat Speaker of the House, is stunning in its unabashedly blatant admission that it’s all about taxing just enough people to avoid losing elections and public support.
Speaking on the current proposal to pay for “universal” health care by taxing individuals who earn $280,000/year ($350,000 for families), Pelosi said:
From Politico: “I’d like it to go higher than it is,” Pelosi said Friday.
The speaker would like the trigger raised to $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for families, “so it’s a millionaire’s tax,” she said. “When someone hears, ‘2,’ they think, ‘Oh, I could be there,’ because they don’t know the $280,000 is for one person.
“It sounds like you’re in the neighborhood. So I just want to remove all doubt. You hear ‘$500,000 a year,’ you think, ‘My God, that’s not me.’”
That’s what this is all about, isn’t it… as long as we can keep the threshold high enough to eliminate enough voters from the pool of people that will be milked and bilked to fund this government takeover of a major segment of our economy, all will be well… because in the cynical minds of liberals like Pelosi, it’s all about “me”.
As long as “I” am not footing the bill, tax all you want, right?
If she is right, how sad for us….
