Extend school year to provide more time for Obama worship

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

There is no truth to rumor the President Obama is looking to extend time in school to allow for praise & worship…

But with all the time teachers seem to be spending on Obama worship these days, maybe more time is needed for things like math and English.

Another “kids for Obama” video is making news today:

Did not include this video in the Movie Night: In Praise of Obama post last week because it didn’t appear as bad as some of the others and needed to draw the line somewhere, but this helps to illustrate what appears to be a problem with some teachers not being able to differentiate between teaching and worshipping.

Understood that some teachers are very happy that their guy got elected president, but allowing their irrational exuberance (to steal a phrase) to spill over into their job as teacher, whether or not indoctrination is intended, is completely unacceptable.  And administrators who support, defend, encourage, excuse this type of behavior are just as much to blame.

It seems there are folks on the left who truly believe Barack Obama has freed our country from an oppressive ruler, allowing their blind hatred for everything Bush to translate into the type of dancing-in-the-streets behavior often seen with people of liberated countries (or fans of a sports team that just won a championship).

But that is all this is really…  a somewhat irrational, emotional response to a victory for their side that needs to be celebrated with friends on their own time, not in the classroom with our kids.

When was the last time you saw this kind of praise for someone BEFORE he actually accomplished anything bey0nd winning an election?

For that matter… when was the last time you saw this kind of praise for any president in his lifetime inside the borders of the USA?

Never.

There is a reason for that…. think about it.

By the way… who says extending the school year is the answer to better education and where’s the evidence this will allow our kids to compete any better for jobs in a global economy in the future.  Who is to say that more time in school will result in better education?  Will kids be able to concentrate on hot summer days with no air conditioning?

Maybe we don’t need more time in school;  maybe we need to make better use of the time students are already in school instead of making up songs to praise Obama.

We are not losing high tech jobs overseas because overseas workers are smarter or better; we are losing those jobs because overseas workers are willing to work for less money and because companies pay less taxes in those countries.

Think about that the next time Washington tells you we need to raise taxes on  corporations…  no law says they can’t just pick up shop and move overseas where taxes are lower.

Clinton pulls “Vast Right Wing Cospiracy” out of mothballs

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

From Fox News:

Bill Clinton said a vast, right-wing conspiracy that once targeted him is now focusing on President Obama.

In case you don’t recall, or are too young to remember, back in the late 90’s, Hillary Clinton went on TV to defend her husband and claim that all this nonsense about an affair with an intern was all just made up by a “vast right-wing conspiracy” to discredit President Clinton.  Of course the affair was real, as were many other allegations, and the attempts to blame the “attacks” on a conspiracy fell short.

What is amazing is that all these years later the Clintons continue to bring this charge out of mothballs; it’s as if they really believe they didn’t do anything wrong and there really was some right-wing conspiracy group making all this stuff up.

And now…  this same conspiracy has taken aim at President Obama.  What else could explain all of the opposition to his attempts to drive the country down a path of government takeovers?  Clearly it can’t be that folks don’t like his policies.

So, what should we conclude?

If President and then First Lady Clinton lied about a vast right-wing conspiracy back then to cover up what was really going on, it is quite logical to assume they are doing so again today.

Didn’t work then, won’t work now.

Here’s a blast from the past:

And the very pointed denial…

And the lies to the grand jury (caution, somewhat explicit)…

Wondering why polls have such different results…

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Was visiting RealClearPolitics today, checking out the latest polls, and wondering why the new CBS News/NY Times poll results are so far off all the other polls in the same timeframe:

Poll End Date Sample Apprv Disapprv Spread
RCP Average 9/23 52.5 40.7 +11.8
CBS/Times 9/23 1042 A 56 33 +23
Gallup 9/23 1547 A 51 42 +9
Rasmussen 9/23 1500 LV 51 48 +3

So, took a peek at the distribution of the CBS News/NY Times poll compared to the Rasmussen reports poll and the data was pretty much what you would expect to see (could not find similar breakout on the Gallup site):

Poll Dems Reps Inds
CBS News/NY Times 37% 22% 41%
Rasmussen Reports 37.7% 32.7% 29.6%

A significant slant in the poll in favor of Democrats.

CBS News/NY Times is only including 22% Republicans in their sample!

Who is closer to right? Rasmussen at 32.7% or CBS News/NY Times at 22%?   I don’t have any definitive data to say who is right here, but 22% sure seems low.  Sure as heck explains why Obama’s approval ratings look so much better when viewed through the eyes of the folks conducting the CBS News/NY Times poll.

If nothing else, this should be a reminder to not just take polls at face value.  What does the sample look like?  How were the questions phrased? And perhaps most importantly…. does the sponsor of the poll have an agenda?

Quick Thought: Team Obama’s on the Job Training

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

The NEA communication director who participated on a conference call to encourage artists to create works promoting President Obama’s agenda has resigned.  Other Obama officials participating on that call will be using this as a “learning experience”.

Assuming we believe the Obama team never heard of the Hatch Act, it appears they believe they have found a get-out-of-trouble free card —> Caught doing something unethical or even illegal?  Oops… didn’t realize, our bad, we will us it as a learning experience.

Fox News – White House officials released new guidelines on public outreach meetings, saying the conference call hosted in part by the NEA offered the Obama administration a “teaching moment” on separating policy and politics.

A shame no one working in this White House has any responsibility to ensure they don’t do something stupid (like buy gifts for foreign heads of state at the corner store) or illegal (like violating the Hatch Act).  Next time you are pulled over by a friendly police officer for exceeding the speed limit, be sure to apologize and offer to use this as a learning experience.

… NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman said Sergant acted “unilaterally and without the approval or authorization” of then-Acting Chairman Patrice Walker Powell regarding the call.

“Some of the language used by the former NEA director of communications was, unfortunately, not appropriate and did not reflect the position of the NEA,” Landesman’s statement continued. “This employee has been relieved of his duties as director of communications.”

True, after all the uproar over this latest gaffe the man resigned (initially he was reassigned), but did he really act unilaterally?  Why didn’t someone else on the call speak up and say that was inappropriate?  Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement Buffy Wicks, among others, also participated on the call, but was apparently unaware of the purpose for the call and must have stepped away when Sergant was speaking.

Sergant was one of several officials on an hour-long conference call on Aug. 10 hosted by the NEA, the White House Office of Public Engagement and United We Serve, a nationwide initiative launched by President Obama to increase volunteerism.

The explanation?

“We should consider this call to be a reminder and a teaching moment,” the memorandum reads. “It was organized with the best of intentions to promote community service and volunteerism, something the administration does with many constituencies and something we will continue to do. The misunderstandings that flowed from the call should serve as a lesson going forward of the need to take extra care in planning outreach to ensure it complies with these general principles.”

Doesn’t appear to be in sync with the message of the call:

… (the call) sought focused efforts by the approximately 75 artists on the call to produce works of art that supported the Obama administration’s agenda in areas like health care, energy and environment, education and community renewal.

… one of the artists on the call, labeled it a “well thought-out pitch” to encourage artists to create art on those issues.

Sounds like team Obama had a pretty clear agenda for the call, until someone snitched… then it was some rogue dude acting on his own… no one else had any idea he was so far out there… we can all learn from this… will never happen again… never really happened in the first place if you think about it… everyone on the call knew he was speaking out of turn.. after all, he was only the NEA communication director, we couldn’t reasonably expect him to present a clear message…

In Praise of Obama – The Making of the Video

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

What’s a good video with out video-extras…

First, in case you haven’t seen the latest smash blockbuster hit praising everything that President Barack Obama has done for us in just a few short months:

The Making of the Video is brought to us by Fox News -

The superintendent of a New Jersey school where students were videotaped being taught to sing the praises of President Obama issued a statement Thursday saying the taping was unauthorized, but failed to address whether the the lesson — taught during Black History Month — was approved.

OOPS!  Appears this may have been somewhat of a bootlegged video…

… video shows nearly 20 young children being led in a song overflowing with campaign slogans and praise for “Barack Hussein Obama,” repeatedly chanting the president’s name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his “great plans” to “make this country’s economy No. 1 again.”

What were those accomplishments again?  Guess I need to re-watch the video… regarding “great plans”, do we really praise people for plans now?  In that case, I have plans to solve world hunger, bring peace to all peoples of the Earth, and wipe out all disease… please mail my Nobel to…  Last I looked, he hasn’t even done anything beyond telling everyone we have to hurry up and spend…

One song that the children were taught quotes directly from the spiritual “Jesus Loves the Little Children,” though Jesus’ name is replaced with Obama’s: “He said red, yellow, black or white/All are equal in his sight. Barack Hussein Obama.”

What a wonderful message of love and hope.  Usually we need to wait until years after a president has left us to paint over his image with this kind of propaganda.  Accomplishing this during the first few months of his presidency is truly inspiring.

…  the video was first put online by Charisse Carney-Nunes, an activist and author of the children’s book “I Am Barack Obama,” which her Web site says “allows children to see themselves through the inspirational story of President Obama.” Carney-Nunes has been promoting the book during visits to schools on the east coast.

Yes, we must all ask ourselves: “WWBD”.

Perhaps Carney-Nunes would consider a line of bracelets.  And they say Obama doesn’t support capitalism…

Movie Night: In Praise of Obama

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

With yet another video of school kids singing the praises of Barack Obama, thought it would be nice to look back at some of the other videos out there we may have forgotten or missed.

First, this new release comes to use from an elementary school in Burlington, NJ where these young citizens share their own personal feelings about “Barack Hussein Obama” without any coaching from their teachers:

Next up, probably the most famous of the Obama kids videos. If this one doesn’t bring a tear to your eyes you just do not have a heart:

This one doesn’t have a real catchy tune, but it certainly rocks:

More inspirational music for your listening and viewing pleasure:

And of course, we must not forget the First Lady by his side:

The hits just keep coming:

In every language, the message is the same:

What more can we say… in the past, we sang praises to our nation. We lived in a naive patriotic world. Now we know that it is not about the nation, it is not about us, it is about Barack Hussein Obama. He has come to save the world.

Interfere with patient/provider relationship? Never!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

How could we even think such a thing?

The federal government would never do that…

… I suppose one way to convince folks that the government has no plans to intrude in the relationship between health care providers/insurers and patients is to tell health insurers what they can and can’t say:

From WAPO:  The federal government has ordered health insurers to stop telling Medicare beneficiaries that proposed health reform legislation could hurt seniors and jeopardize their benefits.

The government might take enforcement action against insurers that have tried to mobilize opposition to the legislation by sending their enrollees “misleading and confusing” messages, a senior official of the Department of Health and Human Services said in a memo Monday.

Well, I’m convinced….

Not only is it clear that the federal government has no intention of interfering in the relationship between patient and health care providers/insurers, it is also clear that they will forcefully defend their First Amendment rights to freedom of appropriate/approved  speech.

Why are folks upset over this?  Team Obama is just trying to help us to understand that what they are doing is for our own good and confusing messages to the contrary are just not helpful.

Now hush…
