Thinkin’bout Stuff

After getting hit with huge volumes of vulgar spam, I placed restrictions on commenting that effectively blocked the spam, but also made it more difficult for humans to share their thoughts here.

Someone who I regard very highly asked me today if I would consider opening up commenting to folks who are not “registered”.

So…. I’ve opened up commenting. 

Simple rules… keep it clean, don’t be abusive, and I reserve the right to delete anything I consider offensive.

Just noticed (and not sure how long this has been going on) that when you try to visit Thinkin’bout Stuff by entering this URL:  www.thinkinboutstuff.com  you didn’t get to visit Thinkin’bout Stuff.  Not sure how a bad index got into the mix and redirected everyone to an old “coming back soon” page from years and years ago….  but it’s fixed now.

Wonder how many folks never stopped by for a visit because it looked like we weren’t home 

Actually almost got to post last night… then the server burped again. The good news is I’ve been moved to a new server, so I am hoping for some stability going forward.

Will be posting for sure later today, assuming no more surprises.

So… hopefully these problems are behind us now and you won’t get “Page can not be displayed” errors when you stop by for a visit.

Wow that was a long stretch. After two weeks of working with my new Host (who I will not mention here because, for the most part, they were trying and I don’t want to be negative at this point… although that last guy I spoke with essentially told my I was on my own. Turns out he was right and I was better off on my own.), I finally decided to see if I could figure out how to move the WordPress mysql database on my own. Took a bit of reading, but once I figured it out, only took about 10 minutes to complete the move… go figure.

Any way…. just good to be back in busines.

Still working on it.  Not sure why it’s taking so long to transfer the domain.  Best guess is I’ll be back in business by Monday.  Hmmm.. why is it I’m moving again?  Hope this is worth it.

Might be gone for a bit… moving to a new Web Host which will likely cause some interruption… but will return as soon as I can.

If all goes well, the blog files, database, domain name and everything will all move at about the same time…
